We got it! A game room with pool tables, air-hockey and a jukebox, a dance floor, a meeting hall, a big patio, and lots more right here in town. As kids we dreamt of the ultimate club house, as teenagers we searched for the ultimate party spot, now that we're mature (ahem) adults it's the game room!
It is "ClubMoose"! The club house is a couple of blocks west of down town at 300 English Street (just up from Petaluma City Hall). In addition to the game room(!), the club house includes a big meeting hall where we can have meetings, parties, movies, bands, wedding receptions, wakes, arguments, whatever your mind can dream up..... There's a full kitchen, a bar, the game room and a large outdoor patio with built-in barbeques. The parking lot can also be used by members for parking RVs. There are 2000 other Moose Lodges around the country where we can hang out, too. Monthly events: Conversation Cafe - open and honest conversations about things that matter. This started in August 2005 and is ongoing every 2nd Thursday of the month. Adult Game Night - Cranium, Pedro - ongoing - check the calendar Kid Game Night - Magic Cards, Monopoly - ongoing - check the calendar Band night - if you are in a band and interested in a gig let me know fast. Acoustic Open Mic Night – an evening of whatever - stand-up comedy, magic, spoken word - really what takes your fancy. This started Thursday Feb 23 and is ongoing every 4th Thursday of the month - sign-up at 6:30pm, perfromances start at 7pm. And there's plenty of time and space (or spacetime) for your ideas and activities. Over the past few months many have become new members. If you want to join and help us build our community, or hang out and shoot pool, or play scrabble, chess, backgammon, or whatever please send me your snail mail address and I'll send you the application form. If you have any questions just send me an email. Annual dues: $50 per year for men and $20 per year for women. (Changing in 2008) Yes, Virginia, we're now having fun!!! I became a Moose member in May 2005. It a fraternity for men and women and we need new members. It's a place where we can create wonderful social capital. Where we'll feel confortable any night of the week knowing that you can always go down to the Moose (with your kids if you have any) and find some one you know, watch a movie, have a conversation, play some pool or chess or just have a tea or a glass of wine. |
